“Today, I have great pride in announcing that Jio has designed and developed an entire 5G alternative from scratch. This will let us launch a world-class 5G service in India, using 100% homegrown technologies and solutions," said Mukesh Ambani while addressing the shareholders, prospective investors, media and the general public.

Ambani calling this a 'Made in India’ 5G solution, said this service will be ready the moment the 5G range is offered in India and may be prepared for field installation next year. Further, he promised the upgradation from 4G to 5G will be easy and simple.

Mukesh Ambani - run Reliance Industries has announced that it is going to enter the 5G section in India. This was declared by the RIL’s chairman and managing director Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani at the 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday.

Dedicating the launching of 5G service in India to PM Narendra Modi's Atmanirbhar Bharat's vision, Ambani also said that once it will be set up in India, the company intends to offer it to other worldwide telecom operators.

Reliance Jio has designed and developed a complete 5G solution from scratch. It'll be ready for trials as soon as the 5G spectrum is available and can be ready for field deployment next year. The announcement was made by Mukesh Ambani at the company’s 43rd annual general meeting (AGM) at Mumbai.

"Jio has created a whole 5G solution from scratch, which will let us establish a world-class 5G agency in India, using 100 percent homegrown technologies and alternatives," Ambani said in 43rd annual general meeting (AGM).

For those who are not aware, 5G is the next generation of mobile broadband which will replace the 4G LTE connection. Together with 5G, you can expect faster upload and download speeds. 5G also promises lower latency.

"After Jio's 5G solution is proven in India's scale, Jio Platforms would be well-positioned to be an exporter to other telecom operators internationally as a complete managed service," he added more.

Meanwhile, he also announced that Google will invest Rs 33.737 crores for a 7.7% stake in Jio Platforms.

This is among the numerous big investors RIL has on board to invest in Jio Platforms. Facebook, Qualcomm, Intel and others also have invested in Jio at the previous couple of months. In the past couple of months, Reliance Jio has raised more than 1.52 lakh crore from strategic partnerships with global investors.

The 5G spectrum public sale are yet to occur in India. India has delayed a projected 5G spectrum auction until 2021 because of the poor fiscal health of the telecom industry.

Jio platforms, with over 20 startup partners, has built world-class capabilities in technologies like 4G, 5G, Cloud computing, Devices and OS, Big Data Analysis, AI (Artificial Intelligence), AR/VR, Blockchain, Natural Language Understanding and Computer Vision.

Using these technologies, we could create compelling solutions that span numerous Industry verticals and ecosystems such as media, financial services, new Commerce, education, healthcare, agriculture, smart cities, smart production and smart freedom," said by Ambani.

Jio is betting big on 5G, which will see a comprehensive rollout expected over the upcoming few decades. In the future, Jio would be well-positioned to be an exporter of 5G solutions to other telecom operators globally, as a complete managed service, according to the company.
